High power LED - Ultra Efficient Lighting (UEL)
Full LED Retail Store
In June 2010 Commercial Lighting completed their first “all LED” major high street store, believed to be the first of it’s kind in the UK where every lighting product in the retail area is LED.
Client confidentiality forbids us from going into great detail at this stage, but we are delighted that we managed to reduce the overall energy consumption from 7.9KW down to an incredible 3.2KW whilst enhancing the products and creating a clean & crisp environment. One amazing point to make is that the previous scheme was already considered to be energy efficient, utilising a mixture of T5 tubes, ceramic metal halide, and compact fluorescent light sources.
A mix of colour temperatures were used, with a warmer colour selected for the main shop area whilst the products in the display cabinets are enhanced with a cooler colour. We understand that sales of the clients’ main product line have increased 100% since the installation was completed!
The majority of the products installed incorporate the latest SMD LED technology for optimum efficiency, mounted in a range of luminaire types to suit each particular task, including large recessed panels, downlights, display bars and tubular units. These were complemented by a small number of narrower beam luminaires fitted with CREE LED’s and lenses where greater optical control was required.
Commercial Lighting have built up vast experience working with LED’s, having produced our first LED buried uplighter back in 2003. We work with some of the largest producers of LED devices in the world, and with our in-house manufacturing facilities, are able to offer a service to our clients which we believe is second to none.
We were very excited at being given the opportunity to show what we could achieve in this store by creating the most suitable luminaires using our highly efficient LED’s and we are pleased that the final result exceeded our clients’ expectations.

Tower Bridge Engine Rooms
No strangers to unusual projects, Commercial Lighting Systems Ltd were pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with Eleni Shiarlis Lighting Design on the Exhibition and event lighting for Tower Bridge Engine Rooms museum. This followed on from the successful installation of the exhibition lighting in the east and west walkways. The scheme was adopted and updated to enhance the multi functional space.
The museum space is illuminated with a selection of Sovereign track mounted 20W CMH projectors together with low voltage spotlights. For the events lighting, a bespoke Sovereign RGB twin head LED unit with remote DMX drivers was specially produced which is programmed and controlled via a remote scene setting unit. Installation was carried out by Creative Lighting and Power with whom Commercial Lighting Systems worked closely to ensure full client satisfaction. |

St Mary’s Church, Stonehaven
Just one of many churches that have recently benefited from the Commercial Lighting touch, with a number of large pendant luminaires being produced to the clients requirement. Each pendant incorporates an array of both 36W and 55W TC-L compact fluorescent lamps to provide both direct illumination through the polycarbonate bowl as well as indirect illumination to the ceiling of the church. Metal parts, including the chains, were finished in a special metallic bronze finish of the clients choice, and special large eyebolts were supplied for attaching to the wooden beams.
This project gave Commercial Lighting the opportunity to demonstrate not only their design and manufacturing expertise, but also their total commitment to customer satisfaction. When distributor Trilight reported that the client was disappointed with the style of the outer support ring, without further debate, all fittings were returned and reworked at no cost to the client, and the final result met with the full approval of all concerned. |

Syon Park - Middlesex
Commercial Lighting Systems Ltd were very pleased to be offered the opportunity to become involved in phase 1 of a project to illuminate the Great Conservatory at Syon Park Middlesex.
Working closely with our specialist distributor Mr. Nigel Weir of Contact Electrical Distributors Ltd, we were able to offer a complete solution to enhance the lighting on the interior and exterior of this historic building, which is open daily to the public and also used for weddings, conferences, filming photo shoots etc.
To meet the complex requirements of Syon Park a selection of discreet Meyer architectural floodlights were selected and installed on custom brackerty mounted on the internal columns. Using 200w and 300w lamps, a simple control system, coupled with custom made gel filter holders it is now possible to provide lighting effects to suit a wide range of individual requirements in this totally unique building.
Following commissioning and handover of the system the client has given extremely favorable feedback on this visually stunning installation. We now look forward to being involved in subsequent phases of this prestigious project.

The Exchange Station - Liverpool
Commercial Lighting were very pleased to work closely with Graham Festenstein Lighting Design on the Liverpool “City of Light” project.
One of the many historical buildings which has benefited from a carefully designed architectural lighting scheme is The Exchange Station building, now known locally as Mercury Court.
With a wide range of high quality architectural lighting products designed for such sensitive projects, Meyer was the perfect choice.
The new Nightvision range was selected due to the extremely low profile of the luminaire housing, ensuring that the fittings do not detract from the beauty of the building. For this particular building, narrow beam versions of the Nightvision were located beneath the pillars to enhance their prominent features during the hours of darkness. |

COLOGNE ZOO - ELEPHANT HOUSE
Our Meyer luminaires have been used throughout the world to help create a safer and more pleasant environment, but it’s not just people that benefit from their excellent performance!
The Elephant is admired the world over for its strength and longevity, so what better floodlight could there be to provide the lighting to the main shelter in the Elephant House at Cologne Zoo but with Meyer Fluxa luminaires?
The fittings are arranged around the supporting pillars throughout the structure, with a number pointing upwards to wash the underside of the wooden canopy and provide a more open atmosphere to the area

THANKSGIVING BEACON
The Thanksgiving Beacon. A sculpture by Andy Scott.
Lighting Design by Sutton Vane Associates, London.
A symbol of Thanksgiving for the Peace in Northern Ireland, the stunning 17m high statue is the tallest in Northern Ireland. It was essential to keep costs as low as possible.
The statue is in a prominent position on the banks of the river Lagan, close to the new concert hall. Now that the statue is lit by an assortment of Meyer floodlights and spotlights, it is even more prominent as a major symbol.
It is rapidly becoming the symbol of the City.

LED KITCHEN WORK TOP AND FLOOR TILE
Commercial Lighting Systems Ltd were recently commissioned to design a workable LED system that would flush mount behind a glass work top with stunning effects.
Using a custom made linear LED board mounted in extrusion we were able to meet the customers request and requirements with success.
At the same time the client requested a distinctive floor art design, we were able to take the work top idea and using LEDS fitted a custom glass tile design into the new floor system.
The LED’s are controlled from a simple EBS system that was already on the specification
